ME Mission

Mission Statement

At Georgia Southern University (GaSou), the mission of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) program is to:

  • Produce graduates who will assume professional “engineering-related” positions that utilize their applied technical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Produce graduates that have the technical, analytical, interpersonal, professional and communication skills needed to advance in their careers
  • Produce graduates who will  remain professionally current and engage in the pursuit of life-long learning

The program’s mission is consistent with the University’s “…devotion to academic distinction in teaching, scholarship, and service…with a hallmark culture of engagement that bridges theory with practice, extends the learning environment beyond the classroom, and promotes student growth and life success.”

The university’s mission also points out that our “…faculty are teacher-scholars whose primary responsibility is the creation of learning experiences of the highest quality, informed by scholarly practice, research, and creative activities.”

The university’s mission also contributes to “…enhancing the quality of life in the region through collaborative relationships supporting education, health care, and human services, cultural experiences, scientific and technological advancement, athletics, and regional development.”
