Virtual Engineering Design Challenge

You are cordially invited to attend our Virtual Engineering Design Challenge 2020 Competition at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 7th, 2020 which will take place virtually via Zoom.

Please confirm your registration for the event by 5:00 PM on Friday, November 6th, 2020 to obtain the Zoom link and password.

EDC 2020: Eagle-ROAR (Remotely Operated Aerial Reconnaissance) is a novel engineering design competition that engages high school students using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), The competition is inspired by the broad popularity of terrestrial drones, and NASA’s Mars 2020 Rover Mission, which will include an autonomous helicopter (drone).

The virtual competition challenges area high school student teams to develop a Computer Aided Design (CAD) model of a grappling system attachment for a drone. The grappling system will be used to collect reconnaissance payloads. Teams were given a drone, custom web-based drone educational resources, CAD software, and coached/mentored by Georgia Southern engineering students and practicing engineers from local industry.

Each team will present their design ideas and explain the basics of drone flight during the competition. Come check out our next generation of Georgia Southern engineers at EDC 2020: Eagle-ROAR!
