Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia received approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in August of 2014 to offer a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering degree on its main campus beginning August 2015. This is a new degree program is offered through Georgia Southern University’s College of Engineering and Computing. While initially administered in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and supported by that department’s faculty, the Manufacturing Engineering Department was formed into an autonomous department in 2016 and became ABET accredited in 2020. The Manufacturing Engineering Department has grown to 10 full-time faculty and is being housed in the new Center for Engineering and Research building beginning spring semester 2021.

The method of delivery continues to be primarily face-to-face delivery of lectures and laboratories. The program is very hands-on with many experiential learning laboratories as compared to traditional engineering programs.
