IT Faculty Win New Grant

Congratulations to Dr. Atef Shalan and Dr. Chris Kadlec on their successful proposal to the Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG), a University System of Georgia (USG) initiative that promotes student success by providing affordable textbook alternatives.

The new award aims to convert the IT 2530 Operating Systems course into Open Educational Resources (OER), which will generate freely accessible textbooks for many IT students in the future. More importantly, the project will implement a pedagogical framework that would allow state-of-the-art and benchmark practices in the field of operating and computing.

This project also involves Ms. Nikki Cannon-Rech from the Zach S. Henderson Library, Dr. Debbie Walker from the Faculty Center (formerly CTE), and Dr. Hossain Shahriar from Kennesaw State University. The project will start in April 2021 and is expected to end in August 2022.

Congratulations again to the winning team and best wishes for great success in the project.
