Engineering and Research Building

WHO WE ARE

The new Engineering and Research Building on the Statesboro campus will house an applied research center that showcases Georgia Southern’s commitment to educating and training our state’s future engineers and computer professionals.  Facilities in the Building will contribute to workforce development in modern laboratories including high-bay, rooftop and flexible spaces.  The University broke ground for the new 127,000sf building (see picture at right) in December, 2018, and the Building is expected to open in June 2020.

The building’s laboratories will support regional industries by providing opportunities to collaborate with engineering and computing faculty and students on research directly applicable to their current needs.  All departments and programs of the College will have a presence in the building, but the primary occupant will be the new Department of Manufacturing Engineering, for which the high-bay labs are crucial.
