MechE Student Wins 2nd Place in ASME Best Paper Competition
Matthew DeMond, a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering program, won second place in the Best Student Paper Competition category at the ASME 2022 Power Conference and Nuclear Forum, held in Pittsburgh, PA. He was awarded a $1,000 cash prize and a certificate of recognition. Mr. DeMond conducted his research on novel sealing technologies for application in supercritical carbon dioxide power generation under the supervision of Dr. Sevki Cesmeci, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Mr. DeMond is currently working as an intern at the Boeing Company in South Carolina and is planning to start his career in the aerospace industry.
