Andres Carrano, Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Faculty & Research


Andres Carrano, Ph.D. joined the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering & Computing in 2017. As the Associate Dean for Faculty & Research, his role focuses on faculty professional development from their research, conference participation and scholarly publications to their leadership and service to the University. In addition, Carrano oversees the research portfolio of the College including undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research initiatives. He also serves as a professor in the Department of Manufacturing Engineering.

His career includes the Philpott-WestPoint Stevens professorship in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Auburn University after serving on the faculty of the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. Carrano also held formal faculty appointments at universities in Japan, Turkey, and Venezuela in addition to appointments in the United States. He was awarded a NASA Fellow appointment at the Marshall Space Flight Center (2016) and has served as a Fulbright scholar in Italy (2018).

Carrano holds a Ph.D. degree and an M.Sc. degree from the Fitts Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University. He earned a B.S. degree from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Venezuela.
