The mission of the student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at Georgia Southern is to enhance student education, to provide an interface between students and industry, and to increase students’ marketability in the workplace.

Eagle Motor Sports (Formula SAE and Mini Baja)

Georgia Southern’s racing team that participates in international competitions that involve designing, building, testing and racing a formula style race car as well as an off-road baja vehicle. These annual competitions, sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), are extremely competitive, and are an excellent way to build skills and professional connections as engineers.

National Society of Black Engineers

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”

SWE strives to serve as a driving force to establish engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations, and to be recognized for their contributions both as engineers and as leaders.

Tau Beta Pi International Engineering Honor Society

Georgia Southern is currently in the two year probationary period required for chartering chapters. Founded in 1885, Tau Beta Pi is the nation’s oldest and largest engineering honor society. If you have received an invitation to join Tau Beta Pi, congratulations! You are presumed to be a talented engineer or engineering student, and your hard work deserves to be proudly recognized. You have also demonstrated qualities of leadership and service.
