IT Intern – Southern Company Regional CIO Alabama

JOB SUMMARY 

The Information Technology intern will gain insight into the Information Technology organization at Southern Company through structured overviews and projects in the following areas: Chief Information Officer, Computing and Network Services, Planning and Financial Services, and Program Management.  Overviews will include information on the area’s function, customer base and current projects and initiatives.  Projects will be based on Company need and the interns’ abilities and interests.

Information Technology is a 1,000-person organization that sets technology strategy to help Southern Company achieve its business goals and builds and maintains the company’s information technology infrastructure and applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Major or Minor in Information Systems, IT, CS or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
  • Ability to communicate well with clients, supervisor, and peers
  • Ability to travel overnight in the Southeast
  • Authorization to work in the United States

JOB HOURS and JOB LOCATION

  • Summer 2016
  • 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PMor 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Birmingham, AL with limited travel in the Southeast
