Automotive Lab

The experimental apparatus, located in the Renewable Energy-Biofuels Combustion Laboratory, consists of:

Test Cell alpha: which includes a turbocharged JCB 90HP diesel engine coupled to a 250 HP Horiba-Scheck dyno.

Test Cell beta: which includes a Kubota one-cylinder experimental engine.

They are fully instrumented for combustion analysis. The following parameters are investigated experimentally and/or by computer simulations: ignition delay, heat release, in-cylinder bulk gas temperature, convection and radiation heat transfer during flame propagation for various Fatty Acids Methyl Esters.
